About Cultural Connections
IIMD has a long history of celebrating the diversity metropolitan Detroit has to offer. IIMD organizes events to honor rich cultural traditions including music, dance, art, fashion, and food.
Since program start in 1995, IIMD has held up to 300 cultural festivals and events, 25 cultural summer camp sessions for children and youth, and 75 ethnic fashion shows. Most recently, in 2018 and 2019 IIMD initiated and collaborated with the City of Detroit for its Welcoming Week Celebration held at the Spirit of Detroit Plaza.
