Program Description
Our Career Development Department provides individual one-on-one counseling, evaluation, career development and employment assistance to low-income, foreign-born and non-immigrant Detroit residents.
We also offer Job Readiness workshops through our non-profit partner agencies throughout the Metro region, while also delivering direct services to organizations upon request. Our career counselors and volunteers provide access to education and accreditation that oftentimes result in job referrals. Approximately 1800 units of service were provided in 2015, serving nearly 300 people (65% foreign-born; 35% non-foreign born).

Job Resource Program
Started February, 2012 – In cooperation with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the City of Detroit, and continued in 2013 by United Way, for unemployed Metro Detroit residents (new immigrants as well as long-time residents) – job readiness program, English as a Second Language classes, G.E.D. classes, vocational classes, financial literacy, computer training, resume writing and interview skills, bus routes information, individual counseling, etc.
All Job Resource Program classes are FREE of charge.
Workshops
